My work is trying to create the same sort of feelings you get when standing in front of nature, the ocean and the sky in Pembrokeshire, feelings of awe, mystery, history, vitality, being one tiny part of the massive whole universe. There is always a sense of well-being when breathing in the sea air, walking outdoors and looking at the ever-changing phenomena in the elements. I use colour, curve, repetition, light or dark depending on the day, being alert to the moment, being conscious of the moment and allowing it. I want to make space and movement through the track of colours across the picture plane. I want to allow a greater range of movement within the confines of the canvas in the belief that movement leads to a freedom from oppression, flexibility in the physical body seen as form on the canvas can free the spiritual body and lead to openness of mind.
